Changes to my study program
I’m in my last
year of the career of journalism and I’m little disappointing. All people said to
me that University of Chile was one of the best places for study, because all
subjects were taught as best as possible, almost like perfect and people who end
any career of this university would be a wise person, the best of everything,
etc. But this is a little lie.
Is true that we
have some subjects that are not taught in other universities, like “Knowledge
problem” or “Semiology”, topic that teach us theories about life, language and communication.
But we are too far away from the new world.
The fact that we
just have a few subjects of technology and its use in this era is disturbing.
We still writing for newspaper or magazine, but day after day, this kind of journalism
is dying. Fewer people buy it, and more read news in internet. I think that the
university need a change in this topic.
On the other hand,
journalism is a career that demands a lot of time outside of the classroom and,
we have too much requirement of attendance. Always we have some subject in the
limit line of approval or fail. They have to change that policy. Also, I think
that we can do this career in 4 years or less, I remembered that I have one
semester with just 3 subjects, so maybe if I could have taken more subjects in
that time, I would be working and graduate right now.
About the
buildings and infrastructure, I think that ICEI have its own microclimate. The
sun never illuminated all the places, so is really cold in winter and in summer
is really fresh. On the other hand, I think that we don’t have all the things
that we need, like cameras, computers, big library or a decent radio or TV
studio.
Finally, I think
that some teacher has to renovate their methodologies and adapt to the new demands
of the market.
Well, I’m about
to finish my career. I will going to miss some stuff, like long “windows” and
the cheap food.
Enjoy your time
here!

The ICEI is a little lie, I also feel disillusioned but the end is near hahaha
